Facilities in Chemical Engineering Department

CHEMICAL ENGINEERS built & operate chemical manufacturing plants. Their approach is to break down the manufacturing operations into a series of steps. All the labs in Chemical Engineering Department are well-equipped and properly furnished with modern equipment. These equipments sufficiently incorporate all the processes concerned with Chemical Engineering. It is essential that chemical engineering students have a comprehensive picture of the Chemical engineering laboratories provide the student a wide range of equipment for understanding the subject clearly.

Following Laboratories are there in our department:


1.Mass transfer Operation Lab.

In chemical industries, the term Mass transfer operation includes such techniques as distillation, gas absorption, humidification and dehumidification, adsorption, liquid extraction, leaching, crystallization, drying and number of other techniques. So, it is very clear that mass transfer operations are backbone of any chemical industries.

2.Fluid flow & Solid handling Lab.

This Laboratory deals with various types of unit operations such as screening, filtration, sedimentation, crushing etc.

3.Heat Transfer Operation Lab.

This lab deals with the various heat transfer operation such as conduction, convection, radiation, boiling condensation and evaporation.

4.Chemical Reaction Engineering Lab.

Chemical Engineering Reaction is deals with the chemical kinetics, Design of reactors such as plug flow reactor, continuous stirred tank reactors, different series and parallel operations in reactors etc.

5.Chemical Engineering Fluid Mechanics Lab

Fluid mechanics lab helps to understand basic concepts in fluid mechanics specially its static, dynamics and kinematics along with different pumping operations and velocity measurements to get better understanding of the subject.

6.Process dynamics and Instrumentation Control Lab.

Different chemical industries requires to automatically control the various parameters such as temperature, pressure, velocities of fluid flow etc. Therefore the main objective of this lab is to provide the knowledge about the control systems.

Environmental Engineering lab deals with the study of BOD, COD, and alternate energy resources like biogas, aerobic and anaerobic digestion process along with different separation techniques.
